A Friendship that became a Rivalry...
A Rivalry that became a Battle.
An adaptation of a Christopher Priest's novel, The Prestige tells the mysterious story of two magicians whose intense rivalry leads them on a life-long battle for supremacy -- full of obsession, deceit and jealousy with dangerous and deadly consequences. From the time that they first met as young magicians on the rise, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden were competitors. However, their friendly competition evolves into a bitter rivalry making them fierce enemies-for-life and consequently jeopardizing the lives of everyone around them. Set against the backdrop of turn-of-the-century London.
Starring:
Hugh Jackman

Andy Serkis
and David Bowie as Nikola Tesla
I enjoyed this one. Try watching this as a group. As soon as the end credits roll in, pagtatalunan ninyo yung twist ng story. Yung tipong "did he or didn't he?" "pano'ng nangyari yun?" Many of the answers actually lie around within the movie itself.
Past and present collide in this epic adventure that reveals the origin of Iron Man. While raising the ruins of a long buried Chinese kingdom, billionaire inventor Tony Stark digs up far more than he bargained for. He unleashes an age-old prophecy that foretells the resurrection of the Mandarin, the emperor of China's darkest and most violent dynasty. In order to confront the destructive force, Tony creates an armored suit infused with high-tech weaponry. To stop the evil that he himself has raised from the earth, Tony must become his greatest invention ever -- Iron Man! The newly born champion must travel to the four corners of the earth to battle the Mandarin's henchmen, the Elementals -- four magical warriors who harness the power of the elements -- earth, water, wind, and fire -- with deadly chemistry. But is the Iron Knight, as he his known in the prophecy, strong enough to defy fate and turn back the malevolent forces hell-bent on earth's destruction?
May loops yung story pero what can I say? Iron Man has been my Marvel favorite since I was 12. Sa DC Comics, Green Lantern ang favorite ko. Animation's a mix of 3D and CGI. Okey na rin by my standards.
This true story follows FBI agent Joe Pistone as he infiltrates the Mafia of New York. Befriending Lefty Ruggiero, Pistone (under the name Donnie Brasco) is able to embed himself in a mafia faction lead by Sonny Black. Ruggiero and Pistone become tight as the group goes about collecting money for 'the bosses'. Eventually, the group become big time when Black himself becomes a boss, all the while Pistone collects evidence. However, the trials and tribulations of the undercover work become more than Pistone can bear. His marriage falls apart and to top it off, the Mafia suspect a mole in the organization. The real dilemma is afforded to Pistone, who knows if he walks away from the Mafia, Ruggiero will be the one punished.
The film takes place in Boston when Frank Costello, an Irish mob boss, implants Colin Sullivan as a mole inside the Massachusetts State Police. Simultaneously, Billy Costigan is employed by the police to infiltrate Costello's crew. When the two catch wind of the other's involvement, they are dispatched to discover each other's identities. The possibility of a sequel was rumoured when the film was announced due to it being based on the storyline of Infernal Affairs which itself spawned a sequel and a prequel. In an interview with the UK film magazine Empire; Mark Wahlberg stated that he will be appearing in a sequel to The Departed with his character investigating the murders of Billy Costigan, Colin Sullivan, and Capt. Oliver Queenan. He also mentioned the possibility of "bringing in De Niro as a senator, the corruption reaching up the political chain. And if that's a success, they're gonna do a prequel." 'Rocky Balboa' examines one of America's greatest icons at a vulnerable period in his life --- middle age. Heavyweight champ Mason Dixon and his representation offer Rocky a shot for the title. For Balboa, it'll be one last hurrah he'll never forget... but with his glory days far behind him, can he withstand the inevitabilities of what's to come? A look at going full circle and wanting more, when life turns out how you least expect it and then some.

Probably the longest rock mix that you’ve ever heard on the planet.
75 tracks.
All-original artists.
3 full hours non-stop.
The influence came a long time back, mga late-80s o early-90s na siguro yun. Madalas kong naririnig sa PUJ na biyaheng Cubao-Montalban. Maganda ang hataw at familiar sa akin halos lahat nung tracks featured dun sa mix. It was lengthy pero, yun nga lang, hindi original artists.
Fast-forward to Dipolog 2002. Nag-attempt akong gumawa ng sariling rock mix. Pang-New Year's Eve talaga ang pakay ko. With the aid of the available tools (MD player-recorders, cassette players at saka isang Tascam Porta-Studio) pinagtiyagaan ko. Yun nga lang, hanggang isang oras lang ang nagawa ko. Madugo e.
I tried it again the following year; this time, may PC na ako. Kaso, kinapos sa oras kaya todo-pasa na lang yung kinalabasan. Naka-90 minutes lang pero forgettable.
2004. Patapos pa lang ang August, inuumpisahan ko na ito. This explains why some of the modern rock stuff included here e hanggang 2004 lang. Ang daming Kiss tracks, no? Personal favorite, e. By November, it was ready to rock and we even promoted it sa AA-925, kasama pati yung mga warnings (keep away from anything breakable, ek-ek).
Una siyang humataw last Dec. 31, 2004. The feeling was euphoric, to say the least. Halos walang low points. You could headbang, play air guitar, heck, you could even dance to it! It may not be THAT perfect sa mga naghahanap ng mga fancy loops, samples and all the frills. Masyado nang mainstream yun, e. Back to the basics naman; straight-forward mixing, as simple as that. Mas marami pa ring nakaka-appreciate nung unadulterated mixes. Paminsan-minsan, mas masarap pa rin yung plain brewed coffee kesa latte.
It's an art in itself. A personal challenge na di ko inatrasan. Maganda yung naging feedback dito nung mga nakapakinig. Pero not withstanding the reactions, the most important thing for me was that I felt good about what I did. By the time Rock & Roll All Nite (actually, this song is my program's finale pag Friday nights sa AA) cues in, I could let out a loud, heavy sigh of contentment. And those who are familiar with the Friday edition of my program, alam na nila na it's the last song.
It's a labor of love.
Kaya ko pa bang gumawa ng isa pa to top this? Seriously? It never crossed my mind.
Enjoy it while it's available. It's password-free.TRACK LIST ---SMOKE ON THE WATER (Deep Purple)
